An intimate conversation with a survivor and warrior.
Osato Odion was trafficked to Europe through one of the most dangerous routes – the Sahara dessert, Libya and then across the Mediterranean Sea. Forced to work in brothels and severely threatened by her exploiter, Osato found courage, deep in the midst of fear, self doubt and pain, she discovered her own courage to break free from 21st century slavery. You are invited, join us to give a survivor a platform to share her experience, to celebrate her courage, to make her story valid, to educate ourselves and maybe become inspired to end human trafficking.
Osatohamwen Odion, the now student and part time photo model speaks out and wants to use her story to give victims and vulnerable people a voice.

Is human trafficking the problem we should fight!
We find ourselves caught up in the struggle to cob the Symptoms of the problem rather than the cause of the problem. ARISE is an even series holding in major cities in Europe and in Africa. Our goal is to cause a holistic debate and inspire sustainable actions to end human trafficking. From our point of view, we need to tackle so many diverse issues in the country of origin as well as in the destination countries. Issues would go deep to tackle the issues revolving around educational, health, entrepreneurship, consumption, sexuality, migration, global economy etc. It might sound very complex, but sustainable changes need a holistic approach. Join our event near you and spread the word. Help us invite your friends as well to the ARISE event series. To learn more about ARISE, please visit our page online >
Ehemalige Zwangsprostituierte will Betroffenen Mut machen
Information | Mittag in Österreich copyright ORF
Event “Building Freedom” Program
We invite you to join our conversation as Osato engages in an intimate discussion with the host Joana Adesuwa Reiterer, about the deeper issues leading to human trafficking. Marking this event, Osato will present her newly launched online course where she shares how she found the courage to break free. Your host Joana Adesuwa Reiterer is an award-winning social entreprenuer and activist for human right. She has authored two books – Die Wassergöttin and Hexen Kind and was awarded the 1st human rights award by the Austrian League for Human rights.
Before the event begins, Joana will warm the audience up to give our guest of the evening a befitting welcome, while also introducing the scope of the evening. We encourage you to come ready to clap, celebrate and reflect. There is no time for pity and sadness. It time to engage in action from a place of gratitude, from a place of reflected thinking, with the readiness to dig deep into the problem. Before and after the event, as well as during our break, you are invited to visit our on-the-spot corner for refreshments, sustainable shopping, one-one-one interaction with change makers and networking. Yes, this time, we would not miss the opportunity to have some African food which is carefully prepared by Loveth, a Nigerian migrant with great love for catering. Summer is almost knocking, so this is your chance to get one of our fairly produced Joadre bags and products. You can visit our online store to see what to expect. Since we cannot put all online, also expect to see even more unique products.
The event will end at 21:30pm.
Next Arise event edition will be organised in Lagos, Nigeria in July 2019.
